While Kelvin runs around thanking people, Folks should not forget that Kelvin also deserves thanks. not only with the smoking shelter, but there is now also a box on the wall in the Morse room for the radio's to be connected to thanks to Kelvin and Tony. I know it all still need hooking up, but we are almost ready to run with that job now as well.

Mind you I still think we need a power outlet and a tap in the smoking shelter, so that I can karcher my bikes down in there, Don't want them getting dirty do I ? :))))))

  • Steve2Q0SVT : Hi ya Mick have you considered a long wire instead of a g5rv. The snowdonia ones are pretty good, but think they are more expensive.

  • M6MDR : Something not right with the LRS site today... When I'm logged in, it shows as I'm the only one logged in and I can only see the message I posted in the shout box while logged in. When I log out my message is not in the chatbox and the whos online shows other people logged in... Very STRANGE!!
  • M6MDR : Hi guys, just wanted to say thanks for the SSTV pics the other night. Had a lot of fun. Wont be on again for a few days now as I'm having a big clear up and will also be disconnecting alot of equipment in anticipation of adding, re - routing and in some cases re - wiring my the shack / bedroom ready for my G5RV installation hopefully sometime next week. Just waiting on some bits and pieces from tinternet to arrive. 73s for now... Back soon!

  • DigitalDunc : Hi everyone! I placed an order for PCBs with Olimex and they have as yet not fulfilled it. It's been weeks and not a peep though they took my money. If the little blighters ever turn up there will be the first batch of digimode interfaces based around commercialy produced PCB's available quite sOOn!
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Hi Stuart. Pictures were nice to wake up to m8, not excellent quality my end as all a bit heath Robinson affair, how they were collected. Nice to see SSTV in use again though. Fingers still crossed that I don't have to go to the doctors, But I will if I need to.
  • Stuart : Hi! Mick. Great night on 144.500. Really enjoyed it. Great to be back on sstv again. mni tnks fer some great pics. 1st time I've used new P.C. fer sstv. Hi! to Steve also. Hpe u enjoyed pics & r feeling better. Hpe 2 catch u on air soon. Best wishes 2 all. G1ECK.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Collected most of the pictures in viewable form From g1eck and M6mdr as I just left mmstv running in a virtual windows box within linux, by just leaving a pc mike on top of the radio speaker. Can't transmit pictures at the moment anyway.
  • GQ4ZTD : Lots of SSTV pickys on 144.500 tonight folks
  • M6MDR : Hi Stu. Yeah, sorry not been about much but as I mentioned, I simply lost interest in most things once the realisation hit thaat Uni wasn't going to work out due to all the hic ups from third parties constantly. Just been trying to re - kindle some of my interest slowly again and thought I'd start by working the radio here and there. Looks like it's back to the drawing board with the plan to emigrate now though LOL I've decided to look into other options such as the OU.

  • Stuart : Hi! Mick. Nice 2 hr from u. If u want sstv test sigs give me shout on 144.500. or let Kelv know 2 tell me when ur likely 2 be on. Will only take me few mins 2 set up. 73's 2 u & urs.
  • M6MDR : Just to let you know Kelv, you're deffinately transmitting audio. CW and other data heard but theres is a distinctive humming / buzzing and the audio is low. Audio qualit itself seemed clean but was low and overpowered by humming. End stop signal by the way but that's to be expected.
  • M6MDR : Cheers for test assistance m8.
  • GQ4ZTD : nn steve
  • M6MDR : nite m8
  • Steve2Q0SVT : nn people

  • M6MDR : on 2m I should add
  • M6MDR : Anyone capable of receiving and sending a couple of test SSTV pics?
  • GQ4ZTD : Nice to c u on here dude
  • M6MDR : yo
  • GQ4ZTD : Yo Mike
  • M6MDR : Hello peeps and yes, get well soon Steve. You're right mate, can't be too careful with chest infections!
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Thanks m8,
  • GQ4ZTD : Steve sorry ur not well m8 however i explained at the club for yoiu too m8, regards
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Thanks Stuart, It is called sarcoidosis and is a potentially recurring lung problem. Might be being over careful, but can be quite nasty.
  • Stuart : Srry 2 hr u unwell Steve. Get well soon. Had bit of it myself & neighbour just out of hospital with itSeems 2 b a bit of it about. 73's u & urs
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Going to give the club a miss tonight people. I think I have the start of a Cheast infection, and I am hoping it will not get worse. If it does I am at the least back on steroids. at worst in Hospital. So discretion being the better part of valour I apologise for my absence tonight. Take care all.
  • GQ4ZTD : No worries Steve hope you get better soon m8 i only called round for a cuppa m8
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Sorry I missed you earlier Kelvin had a migrane, well it is still persisting but not so bad now.
  • manoffunk : Hi Alex, yes if you can get them - they will do the job, I couldn't find one for £10 though so got one on EBay with all the giblets for £20 and free postage. :)
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Understood on the XYL Russ, Some contacts have been made by John and Kevin, but under very difficult radio conditions.
  • walrus2106 : Hi Steve, I'm not able to get over there due to wife's illness, lets hope they are at least getting some transmissions.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Oh and Barks from Ben lol
  • Steve2Q0SVT : I am only 26 miles away from the Windmill, but still can't hear the club on the bands, which are basically dire today. Thanks John and Kevin mentions in dispatches for manning the station.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : For those going to the Windmill today or tomorrow, the postcode to enter into your Sat nav is LE14 2BU
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Ello Russ
  • Steve2Q0SVT : GOOD luck to the club at the WOTA event today. I have just been trough the bands here and they are basically dead, lets hope you have more luck at your location. Will see you later.
  • alex : More important news is the fact that the Beer tent at Cromer Folk Festival is featuring ELLGOODS Bitters and I have pre purchased 10 pints worth of tickets I may have to buy more as there are abt 9 different ales and I shall need to drink a decent quantity for testing purposes
  • alex : Some of the Demontfort Uni chaps have got some Sdr dongles off Internet for £10
  • manoffunk : Hi Steve, oh yes you won't need windows for this - linux will handle it fine. It's using a DVB - T receiver usually for TV, which is modified through software. You will be really surprised what it can do, as all the front end is on the PC - that's the beauty of an SDR. But look at the FunCube Dongle, then look at this - mine is ordered, you'll want it! :p
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Still be pushed to get a decent receiver for £20 Dave. As you say for the rare occasions I might need to use windows I can run it as a virtual machine within Linux. Getting used to 12.4 now, still has a few issues, but It is a damn good OS far better than any Microshaft offerings.
  • manoffunk : Hi Steve, yes its receive only. This version uses a modified DVB - T tuner card, so as a wideband receiver it['s still very useful. As you now know, there is no real need for windows these days, or at most a virtual machine. This will run natively in Linux.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : «link» The above link is the antenna the club special events use, which seems to be good performer. Thanks to John G0IJM for the link.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Damn I knew that, just couldn't think of it at the time. Is that transmitting as well as receiving? I wouldn't for choice go back to windows now though. Its to slow and unreliable for me, as most bloatware is
  • manoffunk : Software defined radio. :) You can buy the Amsat Funcube for about £120 or you can do the DIY job for £20 and good ole Linux (and there is a way through windows as well). :)
  • Steve2Q0SVT : weather wise anyway
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Morning John. Pretty nasty one as well.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Psst, anyone know, What's an SDR? :)
  • manoffunk : If anyone is interested in building a REALLY cheap SDR, I will be posting something that will make your toes curl soon. You'll all want one! :)
  • manoffunk : Hi Steve, glad you found the comments - I think you're the first to notice (there are quite a few)! I was in a jovial mood. :)
  • GQ4ZTD : Ill be going on Sunday folks as will be still Drunk on Saturday lol
  • Steve2Q0SVT : We are hoping to be there on Saturday, but no idea of the time yet. depending on circumstances I would like to take a run out on the bike on the Sunday Even if only for a few hours..
  • johngm G0IJM : We hope to be at mill from abt 9.3 am saturday thenset up asap. we will operate untill closeing time of the complex ,ABT 5pm to 5.30 pm..this will also apply on sunday
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Hi Ya Kevin, how you doing m8.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : just noticed some funny comments in the Leicester radio society gallery from manofunk. made me laugh quite a bit, good stuff Dave :)
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Asked the DVLA this morning how come they carge me £78 to tax the bike for a year and £30 a year for a car with double the sized engine and using considerably more road than the bike. If they say it is to do with emissions. How comes it is still called the Road Fund Licence. Bet they don't answer.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : No worries Russ
  • walrus2106 : Hi Steve, was busy on another computer
  • manoffunk : Hi Steve, yes all ok - just too much running around again! :)
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Hi Ya Russ
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Couldn't hear you on 80m Alex.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Hi Ya Alex
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Hi Dave. Arre you OK m8. You going to the windmill over the weekend? Julia and I were at the club tonight for a while. with Ben of course. Bit wet to haqng around for long though.
  • manoffunk : Evenin' all - sorry I could get down to see you all tonight, hope to see you all next time - hope the weather is good for Saturday! :)
  • Stuart : Kelv. Full scrn wking on all. Have not tried other k'brd yet but will when I remember where the safe place is I put 'em in. Mni tnks o.m. 73s 2 u & urs.
  • GQ4ZTD : Hi Guys
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Ok all stuff I needed to get working in car now works, Just dunno where to put the huge 2m radio :( Needs to be secured to floor I think. hmm.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : Yeah pity the clasiffied adds script wasn't so well behaved as the chat is. Not given up on classifierds script yet though, but most are based around a selling system using paypal or a similar system, Rather than just adverts so that people can come view and hopefully buy.
  • Steve2Q0SVT : ok should be changed to the "Q" call now
  • GQ4ZTD : I would recommend that you sign up with Private chat box above (By Steve 2E0SVT) it works very well so please give it a try folks
  • Stuart : The Berlin Olympics 1936. Country going down the Swanee shortly before ww2. Ring any bells. And then we had the massacre @ the 1972 Olypics in Munich. History repeats itself. I think whatever does or doesn't happen this years Olympics will be a disaster. They can't organise a pee up in a brewery in this country anymore.
  • Steve2E0SVT : This OLYMPICS is little to do with the UK, It's purely an exercise in tourism and commercialism in my opinion.
  • Steve2E0SVT : Yes Stuart we were talking about the NOV's for "Q" thing, runs I think till 10th June then the Olympics "O" comes in in I think September. Oh dear did I say OLYMPICS, Sorry forgot that due to the official secrets act and the stupid red tape we are not allowed to say OLYMPICS. Think the OLYMPICS "O" is in September. But though I have the NOV for it, I think I will not use the NOV for that one. In fact I wont be watching the OLYMPICS either. Sorry to those who compete, but this OLYMPICS is little
  • Stuart : All this militarization of the Olympics, Jubilee hype, Threats from Al Quaeda. It's all done to distract you from the rigged terrorist attacks, fake E.T. invasion & pre - planned wwiii. Wake up sheeple. U don't have to be paranoid but it helps & they probably are out to get you. lol.
  • Stuart : Wot's all this "Q" call stuff about. Is it summat to do with HRH Jubilee. Am I now GQ1ECK for the duration?
  • Steve2E0SVT : Hoping to get the rig sorted in the car very soon.then can mke 2Q0SVT /M calls lol. Need some bits and pieces first though, like decent wire and a small fuse box to drive various accessories. etc. Ebay is the cheapest, even with postage costs.
  • Steve2E0SVT : I am far from a royalist Alex, but hey it is a chance to change your call around a bit. I doubt I will use my O sign though, because as far as I can see there is just to much Bureaucratic nonsense involved with the use of the Olympic names and logo's. I thought the idea of the Olympics was it was supposed to be amateur events, not no no you can't use this or say that. Red tape gone mad.
  • G4ZTD : Yes Steve i used my Q call with Tony today m8
  • alex : STEVE I dont use a ""Q "" call as you know I am a supporter of the Republic with a small "R" But I can supply a Guillotine or Noose FOC Note I am not very good with Axe control
  • alex : PLEASE CALL ME between 20.00 and 21.30 Hrs every contact will earn a free Beer.....Lager not available 73 Alex
  • alex : PS Anyone kickinh abt Bank Holoiday Mon eve I should be QRV on 80M SSB 3.600 to 3.75 MHZ
  • alex : Veg is good Alex now 1 & 1/2 stone lighter and fit as a fiddle
  • alex : Chips are Bad
  • Steve2E0SVT : Have many of you used your "Q" calls today, I haven't yet, as I have unfortunately been busy again, maybe tonight.
  • Steve2E0SVT : Hi Ya people, commiserations on the uni thing Mick
  • M6MDR : Hi Stu, sorry not been about much, not been feeling that brill since having to give up Uni. Not got interest in much lately and when I do find an interest, it quickly passes again. Everything just lately seems like such hard work and hassle.
  • Steve2E0SVT : Hi Stuart. How are you doing. The Q call starts after midnight tojnight If memory serves. No idea why no one is about though Stuart. Usually a bit to late for me and past my bed time. But I have been busy recently what with Ebony, ben and now the new jam jar. Wont be around late tonight either as got to be up early in the morning :(
  • Stuart : Hi! Steve. Where is everyone on 144.500 now? Heard no one for ages. Not on F.B. either. Whats happened?
  • Steve2E0SVT : link needs the last bit "hyphen PNtw" added to make it work.
  • Steve2E0SVT : Coll Transmitter «link» - PNtw
  • Stuart : Hrd zilch from ISS @ 16:20+ yesterday. Will listen on 145.800 agn today @ 15:20+ hrs. Better check ant. conn. as cat ripped cable out of bnc connector. after getting entangled in lead.
  • manoffunk : I don't know how some postage can be so bad. I ordered some labels this week and they came then next morning - which was amazing, and have got stuff from China quicker than shops in the UK!
  • M6MDR : How can you call a service Next Day while giving an estimate of 1 - 2 days?
  • M6MDR : Just had a good pass from the ISS. Andre Kuipers heard calling CQ @ S9+ before going into QSO with some people from the Netherlands. Heard the same yesterday too but was to weak to make out. Next ISS pass at 16:19 today which was around the time I heard audio on the ISS frequency yesterday. Might be worth tuning over to 145.800MHz at around 4pm today.
  • M6MDR : LOL.... I've just noticed that when I TX on the HF bands, it sends my PC monitor straight to standby... ERM....?
  • M6MDR : Morning all btw :)
  • M6MDR : M6MDR is currently sitting at his bench as excited as a school kid while waiting on his Data Mode Cable to arrive... Come ON royal snail.. HURRY UP.. I wants to play SSTV :)
  • G1GEV : BTW folks has everyone realised Snowdonia Radio Company ( SRC ) have re - opened, and the Website is totally re - vamped, so for Antenna's or 9:1 Un - Un's take a look !
  • Steve2E0SVT : Cheers for that Kelvin. I had forgotten Monday was B/H, lost the thread with B/H recently as had a lot of other stuff on my mind..
  • G4ZTD : Club will be open Monday folks im going to put a post on the front page in a minute so keep refreshing ur page innit
  • walrus2106 : No - one said it wasn't b ut not sure
  • Steve2E0SVT : Hey Guys Just realised that Monday is a Bank Holiday. Can anyone tell me if the club is open on Monday?
  • manoffunk : Good on you Kevin - keep your chin up, hope you start to feel better soon - love and best wishes, Dave.
  • G1GEV : I'm taking it easy, but feel really cooked up, so roll on next Monday ... Got to be better by 12th and 13th for GB2WWM ... Will be there daed or alive LOL !
  • Steve2E0SVT : Changing cars on Friday.
  • Steve2E0SVT : Hi ya Dave
  • manoffunk : Hope you feel better soon Kev, take it easy. :)
  • Steve2E0SVT : Take is steady M8, You can only do what you feel up to.
  • G1GEV : Sorry guys couldn't make it tonight, just really really Washed Out, so back next week I hope !
  • Steve2E0SVT : Hello guys
  • G1GEV : Shattered but doing OK thanks Steve, tell nyou more another time, Just more problems to learn to cope with LOL !
  • Steve2E0SVT : Murphy Law m8. Hospitals sometimes a necessary evil, You Ok now Kevin?
  • G1GEV : Thats not fair ... All the chat going on while I#m stuck in Glenfied and LRI for over 24 hours, Now I'm home I bet you'll go quiet LOL !
  • Steve2E0SVT : Hope it helps Duncan m8. They are usually pretty quick on delivery as well. I have used them a lot over the years , bought 2 radio's off them including the FT990 and countless plugs sockets etc.
  • DigitalDunc : Guid moaning Tony!
  • DigitalDunc : Just took a look and their prices _are_ good. They are the ones who sold me the previous coax. I had my RG8 red for about 7 years now and I can honestly say that the only real problem I had with it was it's sensitivity to ultraviolet light. Maybe I should have spent more. See Ya m8.
  • Steve2E0SVT : Yep i have stuff to do so see you later or at the club tomorrow night or both lol :)
